Hamilton Presents (MASA)
World Flipped Class Open House
World Flipped Class Open House
on January 30, 2012
Hamilton, MI (January 23rd, 2012) – The first World Flipped Classroom Open House will occur on Monday January 30, 2012, in two countries, 20 states, and over 30 cities and towns. Teachers in various grades and disciplines are opening their doors to allow other educators to see how Flipped Learning works; when learning is turned upside down.
Hamilton Middle School will host an open house from 8:00am – 2:30pm in Nathan Alkire’s and Brad Fuzak’s 8th grade science classes. Hamilton Middle School is located at 4845 136th Avenue, Hamilton, MI. Press and members of the community must report to the main office for a pass 15 minutes prior to the start of the class. Space is limited so please contact Jason Feig (jfeig@hamiltonschools.us) to ensure class start times and availability.
Flipped learning happens when the teacher's lecture is delivered outside of the traditional class time, via a video students view on his or her own as homework. Class time is used for active problem solving by students and one-to-one or small group tutoring with the teacher. Students can watch the short lectures as many times as they wish to grasp the content and then come to class ready to jump into the lesson, answer questions, work on collaborative projects, and explore the content further. Teachers are embracing Flipped Learning in elementary and secondary schools for all disciplines.
